Samsung Washer Error Codes: What They Mean and What to Do

What Samsung washer codes 4C, 5C, UB, dC, 3C and LC mean, what you can fix yourself, and when it needs a technician.

Samsung washers show a short code whenever something stops the cycle. Most point to water supply, draining, balance or the door, and those four are often fixable without a service call. Codes may display slightly differently by model and age (for example 4C or 4E), but they mean the same thing.

How do I reset a Samsung washer?

Unplug it (or flip its breaker) for about 10 minutes, plug it back in and run a rinse-and-spin cycle. A reset clears temporary faults. If the same code returns, there's a real cause to fix.

Which codes need a technician?

3C/3E codes that keep returning on normal loads usually mean a motor, hall sensor or wiring issue. LC/LE codes with water in the base need someone to find the leak. dC codes that return even with a clean latch often mean the door lock has failed.

Elliott's take

On a Samsung washer, write the code down before you reset it. Once it's cleared, it's gone, and "it showed some letters" doesn't help anyone diagnose it. A photo of the display saves real time.
